The learning path
Tracks, units, lessons, and when each one opens.

All tracks share one map. If kana is new to you, start with Foundation.
- A track is one course, like Foundation or a JLPT level.
- A unit covers one theme in a few lessons.
- A lesson is a handful of steps you work through in one sitting.
- A checkpoint closes a unit, and an exam closes a track.
Your plan doesn't include that level yet, or the part before it isn't cleared. The label says which, for example "Requires Premium" or "Complete Lesson 2 first".
What you clear stays on record
A finished lesson or checkpoint keeps its status, even when new lessons are added in front of it. If a plan ends, the levels it opened lock again, and everything you cleared there is still recorded when they reopen.
Tracks run side by side
You can push ahead on the kanji track while the grammar track sits untouched. Learn opens on the track you used last, and Continue takes you to the next thing to do in it.
Without an account you can still open the path and work through lessons. Progress stays on that device until you sign in, and assessments need an account.
